Dear Friend, BREAKING NEWS! Yesterday, on Safer Internet Day, Google announced that it would automatically blur sexually explicit images in search results – a request that NCOSE has been making to Google since 2013. This is a tremendous step forward in protecting children online. Children could easily stumble on sexually explicit images even by typing an innocent search term into Google. In fact, research shows that most children are first exposed to pornography accidentally. Now there is one more level of protection! Google’s new policy will also benefit victims and survivors of sexual exploitation, whose assaults and sexual abuse that were recorded and uploaded online could turn up in a Google search. NCOSE is thrilled that Google has taken this positive step forward to help create a safer internet. And we wish to thank YOU for the role you played in this major victory! Many of you joined us in urging Google to implement changes like these, by participating in our 2022 Dirty Dozen List campaign, where we called out Google for facilitating access to sexually exploitative content. Together, we are changing major corporations and building a world where pornography no longer wreaks havoc in the lives of children, survivors, consumers, and society at large! We invite you to continue pushing forward with us in this fight. >> Visit this page for more actions you can take calling on major corporations to stop facilitating sexual abuse & exploitation >> Visit this page for ways you can help push back against pornography's devastating influence Thank you for your powerful voice! |
