John,
During his State of the Union address last night, President Biden renewed his urgent call to Congress to ban assault weapons and finally save lives – and we desperately need them to listen.
Are you with President Biden? Add your name to Brady’s urgent petition and tell lawmakers we need to ban assault weapons NOW. >> [[link removed]]
We can do this, John. In fact, we've done it before: Brady helped then-Senator Biden craft the original assault weapons ban that notably reduced mass shootings and weapons of war on our streets. But the NRA made sure the ban ended and gun massacres increased 183%.
You read that number right, John. And this epidemic will continue to worsen if we don't do something. With gun violence reaching records levels in past years, we need Congress to take action against deadly assault weapons as soon as possible. Can you help make it clear to our lawmakers: I am one of the majority of Americans who support a ban on military-style assault weapons. [[link removed]]

Banning assault weapons means stopping the next tragedy. Because these weapons are the common link between some of the deadliest mass shootings in the US: In Uvalde, Highland Park, Buffalo, Aurora, Parkland, Orlando, Las Vegas, Newtown, the gunman used an AR-15 style weapon.
Right now, the Senate and House have introduced legislation to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and we know if they do their part, President Biden will sign these bills into law immediately. We need lawmakers to heed Biden's call immediately – can you help us push them to act?
