JOHN,
Democrats continue to push their bad bills through committees. This week, Democrats on the Human services committee heard arguments for and against SB 5599, a radical gender reassignment bill that undermines parental rights.
Despite 4,536 people testifying AGAINST this bill and only 60 testifying in favor of it, radical Democrats are still likely to pass this bill through committee. We need as many voices as possible opposing this bad bill. Let your Senator know where you stand by registering your OPPOSE position through this link.

Another bill recently passed out of committee, SB 5209, would REQUIRE Washington residents to vote in every major election. This bill goes completely against the principles outlined in our constitution. We have the RIGHT to vote - which implies a choice. Currently, there are no repercussions in place for not voting, however consequences were openly discussed and debated by Democrats during the committee's hearing on this bill.
Bill sponsors talked about potential fines or community service for those choosing not to vote - consequences that could easily be added should this BAD BILL become law. Comment on and oppose this bill here.

Another bill up for a hearing this week is a gun control bill that is a direct assault on your second amendment rights:
- SB 5232: Enhancing Requirements for purchase and transfers
- Background: This bill restricts a citizen's right to purchase firearms unless they complete a government sanctioned safety training every five years, including 'live fire' and obtain and maintain a government issued permit to purchase firearms, separate from the CPL currently in place. This bill also imposes an arbitrary ten-day delay on firearms purchases. The wait period would be delayed until the state gets around to processing the background check.

One of the most important changes we need to see from Olympia is an update to the 2021 police pursuit laws that have allowed criminals to steal cars and commit crimes with impunity. There are several bills addressing this:
- HB 1053: Would restore the threshold to begin a vehicle puruit to reasonable suspicion that a crime has or is being committed. Learn more about another solution, HB 1363 / SB 5352 here.
While we must restore the ability of our officers to pursue criminals, we must also stop Democrats from adding more restrictions to our police. HB 1025 would eliminate qualified immunity for our officers, which would result in disasterous consequences for public safety in our state. Read this great article on what eliminating qualified immunity would mean for our officers and communities here.
- HB 1025: Eliminating Qualified Immunity for Police Officers

It is imperative that you TAKE ACTION and register a CON position to stop radical Democrats in Olympia from making these bad bills LAW. You can view a full and updating list of bad bills on our Olympia Watch page.

Police pursuit reform is being blocked in committee by Senator Manka Dhingra and other Democrats. Reach out to them here and ask them to move on this important and bipartisan bill! We'd also ask that you register your PRO position here on this good piece of legislation coming out of Olympia.
