Folks —
At last night’s State of the Union address, President Biden reminded us of the great work we’ve accomplished so far — including passing the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped insulin prices at $35 for seniors on Medicare.
President Biden said we should finish the job and cap the costs of insulin for the millions of remaining Americans who rely on insulin to stay alive.
No one should have to make the impossible decision to forgo groceries or other basic necessities to afford essential medications like insulin — but unfortunately, that’s the reality for far too many Americans.
I agree with the President that it’s time to cap insulin costs for everyone in our country. If you agree too, I hope you’ll add your name alongside mine calling to pass legislation to cut the costs of lifesaving medications.
My guest at last night’s State of the Union was my friend David from Appleton, Wisconsin. David used to pay hundreds of dollars every month for insulin, just like millions of people on Medicare used to do.
But since we passed the Inflation Reduction Act, his out-of-pocket costs are now capped at $35 per month. We can and should make this a reality for all Americans who need this life-saving medicine.
I’m committed to working alongside my colleagues in Congress to make it happen. For too long, big pharma companies have gotten away with charging exorbitant amounts for medicines needed to keep people healthy and alive. Well, I won’t stay silent while big pharma continues to price gouge the American people — enough is enough.
It’s time for Congress to cap insulin prices for everyone. If you’re with me, add your name to our petition to make this pledge a reality for millions of Americans.
Thank you for your support. I’m feeling fired up after President Biden’s speech, and I hope you are too.
