During his State of the Union Address last night, President Biden noted that some Republicans in Congress have openly discussed a desire to “sunset” Social Security and Medicare.
Some Republicans in attendance — including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia — rose up and shouted that the president was lying. (He was not.)
Let me say that again.
Marjorie Taylor Greene and other GOP “luminaries” interrupted the State of the Union Address to INSIST that Republicans have no intention of cutting or eliminating Social Security and Medicare.
Given that the American people — left, right, and center — overwhelmingly support Social Security and Medicare, it is welcome news that the Republican Party is now standing up (literally!) in defense of those cherished programs.
Of course, we may have to remind Republicans — over and over again — about their newfound commitment to Social Security and Medicare.
Tell every Republican in Congress:
Multiple Republicans stood up during the State of the Union Address and shouted that President Biden was lying when he accurately noted that some in the GOP have expressed a desire to “sunset” Social Security and Medicare. We call on each and every Republican in Congress to make a public, written pledge of your commitment to protect Social Security and Medicare. No reduction in benefits. No raising eligibility ages. No privatization.
