Liberal Democrats I was honoured to meet the Ukrainian President in Parliament
today

Dear John,

Only a few years ago, facing war in Europe again seemed unfathomable.

Yet, over the past year, we have seen reports every day coming from Ukraine -
of families being separated, of innocent civilians being murdered, of the pain
of war.

Standing in front of President Zelensky today, hearing about the Ukrainian
people's fight for their freedom, was one of the most moving experiences of my
life.

I was proud to tell the President that we Liberal Democrats stand with him
and his people in their fight against Putin and his brutal regime. That we will
push the British Government to do whatever they can to help.

Last year, I sat in the House of Commons as President Zelensky asked us to
treat Russia as a terrorist state.

Today at Prime Minister's Questions, I asked the Prime Minister to do just
that, starting by proscribing the notorious Wagner Group of mercenaries as a
terrorist organisation.

As Liberal Democrats, we believe in international law and human rights. The
fight for Ukraine is our fight.

Putin must not be allowed to get away with his illegal invasion. We will
stand with Zelensky and the Ukrainian people until they triumph over tyranny.
