Will you stand with Brittany as she fights to protect Social Security and Medicare?

Team — during last night’s State of the Union address, some Republicans reacted with shock and outrage when President Biden suggested they have threatened to cut Social Security and Medicare.

It was a baffling display, because leading Republicans have been threatening to cut these vital programs for years. Let’s check the receipts:

Sen. Mike Lee said, “It will be my objective to phase out Social Security. To pull it out by the roots, and get rid of it. ”

The Republican Study Committee — which includes 156 House Republicans, well over half the conference — released a plan to raise the Social Security and Medicare retirement age to 70, forcing Americans to work several extra years before they receive their benefits.

Former Vice President Mike Pence just last week told a group of corporate insiders at a closed-door meeting that he supports privatizing Social Security.

Sen. Rick Scott last year proposed a plan to sunset Social Security and Medicare within five years.

And even now, House and Senate Republicans are threatening to default on our nation’s debt if they don’t extract steep cuts to vital programs — with some suggesting that those cuts should come from means-testing Social Security, reducing Medicare benefits, or kicking kids off Medicaid. (1)

Team, we can promise you this: as long as Brittany is representing Colorado, she will fight day-in and day-out to protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. And she won’t let Republicans get away with making life harder for regular families in order to serve their corporate campaign donors.

If you’re with Brittany in this fight, we could really use your help. Will you pitch in $20 — or any amount that works for you — so that she can stand up for our families, continue serving our community, and help flip the House blue in the next election?

(1)For example, Rep. Lloyd Smucker said he supports “some sort of means-testing.” Rep. Buddy Carter said of the debt ceiling talks, “Our main focus… has got to be on entitlements.” And Sen. Ron Johnson suggested that funding for Social Security and Medicare should be reset annually in congressional spending bills.
