Dear Friends,
Last night, President Joe Biden reaffirmed his promises to the American people. He will continue to rebuild the backbone of the country, unite the nation, and put Americans first. He is asking Congress, and you, to help him finish the job.
Over the past 2 years, he has worked across the aisle with Republicans to implement an economic plan that is built from the bottom up and the middle out, not the top down. The President highlighted a near-record unemployment rate for Black and Brown workers, and how his administration has seen a record-breaking 10 million applications for new small businesses in his term so far.
In addition to this, President Biden hopes to continue to build proper infrastructure across our nation, using materials made in America and employing union jobs. He wants to bring broadband and robust infrastructure to rural and Native communities. He has asked Congress to finish the job and to give every worker the right to unionize.
President Biden was also joined in the chamber by Brandon Tsay, a hero who survived gun violence in Monterey Park, CA, and Tyre Nichol’s mother and stepfather, who sat in the First Lady’s box. While acknowledging their strength and bravery, he asks Congress and other officials to finish the job and take stronger measures on gun violence and police accountability.
The story of America is one of progress and resilience. “We are the only nation that has emerged from every crisis stronger than we got into it.” The President’s words ring true thanks to the strength of our democracy, and the will of you, the people. President Biden knows that when we put our communities first, America succeeds. So let’s keep going these next 2 years, and finish the job.
Sincerely,
The DNC Coalitions Team
