I’ve never seen a State of the Union that was so disruptive, even under President Donald Trump.
We saw nowhere near the level of jeering, interruption, etc. that we saw last night from some of the extreme members of the Republican Party – who are now embraced and uplifted as the center of the Republican Party.
It’s really shocking, even the things the overall Republican Party refused to stand for. Paying public school teachers. Public health policy. Basic education policy. Raising the wage for some of our lowest paid workers in the United States.
This should be basic stuff. This is ‘sky is blue’ kind of stuff.
The Republican Party really showed the country who they are last night. This isn’t some right-wing thing. This is the ethos of the modern Republican Party.
And this is what we’re up against for the next two years: a Republican majority that uplifts conspiracy theorists, rewards transphobia, and wants to gut Social Security and Medicare.
