John, I’m Manuel Oliver. Last night, I stood with Maxwell as his guest for the State of the Union address, to highlight the gun violence epidemic destroying communities and tearing families apart – communities like mine.
Almost 5 years ago, my son Joaquin was killed in the Parkland school shooting. Since then, I’ve dedicated my life to ending gun violence, and I’m proud to have had my friend Maxwell fighting alongside me every step of the way.
As one of the strongest gun violence prevention champions in Congress, he’s the NRA’s worst nightmare. He’s bringing the urgency we need to end this crisis.
But he’s going head-to-head with a GOP majority that has been bought off by the gun lobby and lawmakers who proudly wear AR-15 pins to diminish the gun violence epidemic in our country.
We need to make sure that Maxwell is able to keep up the work in Congress, no matter what attacks the GOP or NRA might throw at him.
