“Let's give more breathing room to millions of family caregivers looking after their loved ones.” - President Biden, 2023 State of the Union Address
Dear John,
In President Biden’s annual State of the Union address last night, he shared that care is on the agenda for 2023 . He shared the importance of expanding paid family and medical leave, offering affordable child care options, and providing support to older adults and disabled people so they can access home and community-based care.
This is incredible news. You, as part of a powerful caring majority, made this possible. Thank you.
Now here’s what’s next.
We need to back up President Biden right now as much as we can by pushing Congress to make his care agenda a reality. The more people like us put pressure on our leaders now, the more we can make a future where everyone has access to the care they deserve.
Together, we can make sure Congress takes the next step. Will you join us for a #CareCantWait Online Day of Action on February 28th? [[link removed]]

Care affects all of us. But the truth is, right now, millions of parents can’t find affordable child care and women are leaving the workforce because the lack of paid leave leaves them without options. Hundreds of thousands of disabled people and older adults are also on long waiting lists with their lives put on hold – often for years – as they await services that would allow them to stay in their homes and communities while getting the care they need.
For too long, our country has looked at care as something families have to figure out on their own. In an ongoing pandemic and times of economic uncertainty, investing in systemic care solutions is exactly what we need.
This could be the year that we finally pass better care policies, including paid leave for all, affordable child care, and fully funding aging and disabled care, so we can be there for the ones we love most – but only if our elected leaders take action.
Join our day of action to show Congress why investing in care must be a priority in 2023. [[link removed]]

P.S. I want to leave you with this: Biden’s care promises in last night’s State of the Union are a huge victory – and a reason to hope. We’ve continuously put pressure on the Biden administration and Congress with all our #CareCantWait partners and elevated the needs for these investments since he took office in 2020. Together, we’ve shown how care is human infrastructure and how the current broken system has left so many behind. Biden’s promises are just the first step. Help us continue to push the care agenda this year by donating $15 today. [[link removed]]
