InSight Crime's 2022
 Homicide Round-Up

Dear Subscriber,

We are pleased to announce the launch of InSight Crime’s 2022 Homicide Round-Up. Our team analyzed and reviewed homicide statistics across Latin America and the Caribbean to deliver an up-to-date standing of the region’s murder rates.

This year, we pay special attention to the Caribbean, where increasing arms trafficking and tit-for-tat gang killings propelled homicide rates to new heights, particularly in the region’s smaller nations and territories.
We assess the impact of political upheavals on violence in Colombia, as it moves precariously toward peace, and Brazil, where a new president must tackle a wave of violence in drug trafficking zones. And we look at Ecuador, where gangs fighting over the control of staggering amounts of cocaine have resulted in one of the fastest-rising homicide rates in the region.

We invite you to explore the Homicide Round-up, available on our website
