Friends and Supporters,

America First Legal seeks motivated and mission-aligned second- and third-year law students to work as law clerks for the 2023 Summer semester.

This position will provide you the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in cutting edge areas of the law. Clerks will work on matters across AFL’s litigation portfolio that are at the forefront of public policy debates. Clerks will also assist with AFL’s oversight mission and gain valuable experience using various oversight tools to inform the debates that will shape the nation’s future. Clerks will also be able to meet and build relationships with key lawyers and policymakers from across the conservative movement fighting to protect our values and the Constitution.

Law clerks are expected to assist with researching, drafting, proofing, and cite checking material that AFL produces, including letters, memos, complaints, motions, and briefs (administrative, trial, and appellate), oversight actions (e.g. OIG demand letters, FOIA requests, Hill letters, and lawsuits). Law clerks will also be expected to assist with document review, as needed, and generally assist in other duties to further AFL’s mission.

Hours and arrangements are flexible and can be made on an individualized basis to meet credit-hour needs. For clerks who are in the Washington, D.C. area, in-person opportunities are available, but AFL is also able to accommodate candidates based anywhere in the country with a remote clerkship. Regardless of location, AFL places an emphasis on high-quality work product from driven individuals who want to gain meaningful, real-world experience in the conservative movement.

To apply, please submit a resume, a list of two or three references, a brief cover letter (500 word maximum), a writing sample (ten page maximum), and an unofficial transcript to [email protected] with the subject line “Law Clerk Application.”

Please submit all materials by March 1.
