Emgage Action congratulates President Biden on his State of the Union Address and performance over the past year.
Since taking office, his Administration has worked hard to lower unemployment, which is at a 50-year low. It invested in clean energy to address climate change, supported American manufacturing to protect American jobs, fought for student debt relief, and invested in rebuilding America’s infrastructure.
For Muslim Americans, the president delivered on day one of his presidency—just as he promised at the historic Emgage Action Summit—by ending the Muslim Ban. The Biden-Harris Administration has reversed former President Trump’s destructive efforts against the Palestinian people by resuming and increasing funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees and resuming engagement with the Palestinian Authority.
The Administration has stood up to Russian aggression against Ukraine and brought world leaders together to defend democracy and to combat global authoritarianism. At home, the President and his Administration have been clear-eyed about the threat posed by White Supremacy and have marshalled government resources in partnership with the Muslim community to address this threat. The Administration has fulfilled its promise to look like the rest of America by hiring more women and people of color, including Muslims in important domestic and foreign policy positions.
Although much remains to be accomplished, it is important to reflect on these achievements and to work together to achieve even more, together.
