The children of northern Syria were already facing brutal conflict and a harshly cold winter when the most powerful earthquake in nearly a century struck. UNICEF is rushing to respond to the compounding crises and support as many children as possible.

We can’t afford to let the worsening winter conditions in Syria put more children’s lives at risk.

Overnight temperatures continue to dip below freezing. Communities are grappling with heavy rain and snow. The winter was already an emergency situation in northwest Syria before the earthquake struck.

Displaced families in northwest Syria and Syrian refugee families are among the most vulnerable. In this context, and through more than a decade of conflict, this earthquake is utterly unbearable.

UNICEF is currently racing against the clock — and on top of earthquake support, UNICEF is strengthening winter response efforts in Syria, where worsening conditions are especially threatening for children. UNICEF is prepared to provide everything a child needs to survive — but we need your help urgently.

Here’s what your gift will support:
- Winter supplies: including hygiene kits, blankets and winter clothes
- Safe water: ensuring affected children and families have access to safe drinking water and sanitation services — which are critical in preventing illness in the early days of a crisis
- Child protection: identifying separated and unaccompanied children and working to reunite them with family, as well as providing children with psychological first aid
- Medical supplies: with limited medical supplies and trauma kits in Damascus, filling immediate gaps for all supplies via UNICEF’s closest warehouses in Lebanon and JordanWith an emergency donation today, you'll help with immediate earthquake relief efforts and the continued delivery of winter supply kits to children.
