Until Justice is Real
Hey, John –

Tonight is an important moment in the fight for police reform.

During his State of the Union speech, President Joe Biden is expected to
urge Congress to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, a bill
that would help protect Black people from the deadly use of police force.

John, at Color Of Change, we know there is no single solution
to the problems represented by policing in our country. But when we unite
and hold powerful people and institutions to account, we win.

We will not stop until federal, state and local government leaders,
including President Biden, follow up their words with action. It’s not
enough to fire police officers if the structures and institutions that
allow them to kill Black men, women and children aren’t changed. At Color
Of Change, we’re committed to advancing justice for our communities from
every angle.

That means continuing our work to elect reform-minded prosecutors who will
hold police accountable and demand local government bodies wield their
power to reform police departments. That means calling out corporate bad
actors who support murderers with badges, racist police unions and shady
police foundations that enable and protect them. That means fighting for
economic opportunities for our communities and investing in
evidence-based, community-driven public safety initiatives. That means
holding Big Tech companies accountable to ensure the social media
platforms used to highlight the realities of police brutality remain safe
and accessible for Black users.

John, it’s within our power to end the crisis of policing in
our nation if we work together. It’s clear from tonight’s State of the
Union address that our ability to build a powerful narrative through our
action and advocacy has put some of our leaders on notice that they must
do something.

So keep up the fight. Keep signing petitions, making phone calls and
sending texts to demand change — to fight for our right to live. Your
ongoing dedication is more valuable than you know. Our movement for
justice is powered by small-dollar contributions from everyday people like
you. [ [link removed] ]So, John, we hope you’ll consider making a donation of
$25 or more this evening to power our movement for justice.
