National Domestic Workers Alliance
============================
John,
President Biden will make his second State of the Union address tonight at 9pm ET / 6pm PT [[link removed]] , and one thing we’re hoping to hear: his continued support to make care a priority.
Why? Because right now the state of our care infrastructure is *not* strong .
Families can’t access the care they need. Nannies, house cleaners, and care workers can’t count on basic protections like paid sick leave.
We can’t have a strong State of the Union without working towards a strong care infrastructure that can meet our rising demand for care and empower working families to thrive, not just survive.

"I think we're also going to hear him talk a little bit about some of the caring economy. We know, after COVID, that we need childcare, we need eldercare, disability care, our — that infrastructure is not where it should be." [[link removed]]
Every year, this country faces a deepening care crisis. With an ongoing need for childcare and more people aging and living longer, the pressures on working family caregivers, especially young parents in the sandwich generation, have brought us to a breaking point.
My husband of over 60 years has needed more care than my daughter and I were able to provide him. My husband has been able to stay out of an assisted living facility because of caregivers. I am in awe of their patience, strength, and compassion.
— Myra S., NDWA SupporterWe know that investing in a care infrastructure that families need — including a robust federal paid family and medical leave program, a strong childcare system, access to aging and disability care, especially in the home and community, fair pay, safety and good jobs with benefits for all care workers — is not a partisan issue .
Care investments support working families, strengthen jobs and our economy, and make our country even more resilient in the face of continued uncertainty and rising costs. Caring for our loved ones is the uniting force within our nation’s foundation .
We hope you tune-in tonight to watch the State of the Union address [[link removed]] . And, we’ll be in touch tomorrow with ways you can get involved to help us win bold investments in the State of Care because investing in care is investing in families.
Together, we can build an equitable future that works for everyone.
Thanks for all that you do,
