We want to take a second to tell you about a federal lawsuit that a Trump-appointed judge will soon decide in Texas that could have implications for people seeking abortion care across the country.

A few months ago, anti-choice organizations filed an unfounded federal lawsuit that seeks to revoke the FDA's approval of mifepristone, one of two medications typically used in medication abortion care.

Here's why this is a big deal:

• Medication abortion is the most common method of abortion in the country.
• Medication abortion is safer than Tylenol, with a safety record of over 99%, and it's been available in the United States since the FDA approved it over 20 years ago.
• It's also more accessible for people who don't have access to in-person care and less expensive than other methods of abortion.
• Now that Roe has been overturned, medication abortion has become even more important for accessing abortion care across the country.

Even though the case is being tried in Texas—in front of a judge whose nomination NARAL opposed and who has issued many anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ, and anti-contraception opinions—it could mean that access to mifepristone would be eradicated in every single state in the country, including in states where the right to abortion is protected—amounting to a backdoor nationwide ban on medication abortion.
