Dear John,

Thirty-three dogs from Texas arrived at our Medical Center at 1a.m. this morning. They were met by staff and volunteers offering love, comfort, and all the medical care each animal required.

In late January devastating tornados tore through the Houston area, ripping one shelter's roof clean off, and displacing the pets who were sheltered there. Nature was just getting started. Ice storms followed, closing roads, halting commerce, stranding hundreds of thousands of people without power—and virtually eliminating any chance these pets would find a Texas home anytime soon.

Like so often during times of disaster, we stepped in to help.

The animals PAWS Chicago rescued today include sick and injured pets who may have faced euthanasia, including Trina and her puppy, Tempo.

When disaster strikes, the PAWS Chicago community always steps up to help. Thank you for being there when animals need you most.

Other shelters were willing to rescue Tempo, but didn't have resources to treat Trina's severe case of heartworm. The pair was about to be split up. And Trina’s fate was uncertain.

Thankfully, PAWS has the capacity—and capability—to treat mother and pup. This adorable duo gets to stay together until they’re ready for adoption, and Trina is guaranteed the care she needs.

And it’s all because of your compassion and generosity.

Today these 33 adorable animals are alive, safe, and getting the loving care they need at our Medical Center. You can learn more about them and follow their stories below.
