1) Sign Of The Times? More Financially-Squeezed Americans Can’t Afford To Buy Food At The Grocery Store
So much for the wondrous economy Biden is touting.

You may have seen this story:

[link removed]
According to the Washington Times:

Dollar stores have become the fastest-growing source of groceries for Americans by share of household food spending, especially among poor Black people in rural areas, according to a recent study.

Researchers from Tufts University found dollar stores’ share of household food purchases increased by 90% overall and by 103% in rural areas from 2008 to 2020, the Journal of the American Medical Association reported this week.

Making matters worse is that dollar stores are now becoming two-dollar stores because of Bidenflation.

2) State Of The Union Preview: Liar. Liar, Pants On Fire
We expect six big lies in tonight's speech:
1. Biden has reduced the budget deficit by $1.4 trillion.
Reality: He has recorded two of the largest deficits in history.

2. Biden inherited an economy in freefall.
Reality: The economy expanded by nearly 20% in the last six months of the Trump Administration.

3. Inflation was high when Biden entered office.
Reality: inflation rate was 1.4% when Biden entered office and he ran it up to 9%

4. Biden has brought down gas prices.
Reality: The gas price was $2.59 a gallon under Trump, hit $5 in the Summer, and is now $3.49 a gallon.

5. Biden is doing all he can to secure the border.
Reality: There were 2.2 million illegal border crossings in 2022 shattering the all-time record.

6. Biden is increasing domestic oil and gas production.
Reality: If Trump's energy policies were in place we would be producing 2 million more barrels a day.

3) New Trier High School Goes Super Woke
Many of our readers have probably heard of New Trier High School, on the North Shore of Chicago – a school that was once regarded as the top public college prep school in the country. New Trier is located in Winnetka/Kenilworth – one of the five wealthiest townships in the country. The families are almost exclusively white and high-income.

Our friends at a conservative group called New Trier Neighbors keep an eye on the woke craziness that pervades the school district and alerted us of the school’s latest diversity and equity agenda – which is now advising teachers on how to “Teach While White.”

“Teaching While White” and “Beyond Diversity” will feature a discussion of “why being "colorblind" is not a solution,” the school administrators are telling parents and teachers. Apparently, now being “colorblind” is racist. Meanwhile, test scores are falling and the school's reputation for academic excellence keeps falling.

If there were ever an example of mindless rich white liberal guilt, here it is in, well, living color.

4) Will Congress FINALLY End Biden's Travel Ban
Our friend Thomas Massie’s bill to end the travel ban will be voted on this week.

The bill would repeal Biden's order barring the three billion or so people who have declined COVID vaccination from entering the United States, including reigning Australian Open Champion Novak Djokovic.

It has been six months since the CDC recommended against public health policies based on whether someone is vaccinated.

"CDC’s COVID-19 prevention recommendations no longer differentiate based on a person’s vaccination status because breakthrough infections occur, though they are generally mild, and persons who have had COVID-19 but are not vaccinated have some degree of protection against severe illness from their previous infection."

If Congress keeps the ban in place, this will put America in an exclusive league of countries we probably don’t want to be emulating.

5) Clueless In Seattle (And Portland)
Liberals have long held up Portland and Seattle as two of America’s great urban progressive success stories. These cities have been heralded as a version of an American Scandinavia: filled with highly-educated, culturally refined, rich, nature-focused residents. For years these were top destination cities.

No More.

After decades of rapidly gaining population, people are leaving Seattle and Portland. The riots and lawlessness in the summer of 2020 that never seemed to end, certainly accelerated the exodus.

“Portland has switched from attracting new arrivals to repelling its current citizens,” concedes the left-wing alternative paper Willamette Week, with the news the city has lost people three years in a row. “In Portland, many liberals are dodging stray bullets, losing catalytic converters to thieves, and sidestepping tents. Then they open their tax bills.”

The public schools are a disgrace. Portland, Oregon public schools issued an absurd curriculum guide last year that taught kids the idea of gender as mainly binary was brought to the U.S. by white colonizers.

Seattle suffers from much the same set of dysfunctions. The Seattle Times warns the city is “suffering from its first decline in working residents but attracting homeless people and criminals,” while crime is soaring.

Meanwhile, just a 20-minute drive from Seattle is Bellevue, a booming city of 154,000 people. Seattle-based Amazon is shifting its workforce and plans to have 25,000 employees in Bellevue, Microsoft has 9,000 people on its Bellevue payroll and Facebook and TikTok are expanding their local footprint. Kemper Freeman, who developed Bellevue’s massive retail shopping centers, says business has never been better.
