John,
A Trump-appointed conservative judge in Texas is expected to rule any day now on a case regarding medication abortion brought forward by a group of anti-choice extremists.
The groups are seeking to reverse FDA approval of mifepristone — one drug of the two-step medication abortion regimen, which accounts for more than 50% of abortions in the United States.
If the judge rules against mifepristone, this ban would take effect nationwide, even in states that protect the right to abortion like California and New York. It would have disastrous consequences for abortion access in the U.S., leading to backlogs at clinics and more unsafe at-home abortions.
Congress needs to act to protect access to medication abortion NOW. Senator Tina Smith and Congresswoman Cori Bush have re-introduced the Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act, which would protect current FDA guidelines and keep the prescription of medication abortion pills legal.
Please, add your name to our petition demanding Congress to pass the Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act immediately, before conservative judges strip away more of our rights.
Thanks for taking action,
HER Time
