We all watched as Kevin McCarthy lost 14 embarrassing votes for Speaker of the House.

Then, he wined-and-dined the most right-wing Representatives, and suddenly they changed their minds and agreed to elect him.

The big question on everyone’s mind is what changed?

What did Kevin McCarthy promise them?

What did he promise Matt Gaetz? The guy who went on a cross-country tour to spread conspiracy theories about the 2020 election to rile up the MAGA base.

What did he promise Lauren Boebert? The woman who alluded to her colleague Rep. Ilhan Omar being a terrorist with a bomb.

What did he promise Marjorie Taylor Greene? The woman who said climate change was caused by “Jewish space lasers”.

We may not know what Kevin McCarthy promised them, but the fact he would sink to the level of these far-right conspiracy theorists shows us he will do anything to further his own interests.

Kevin McCarthy will never put the needs of his constituents and the country ahead of his own personal ventures for power, fame, and money.

When he is planning the House’s agenda, he’s likely thinking “What will make my donors happy so I stay in power?” instead of “How can I help my constituents?” and that’s shameful.

He’s made promises to some of the worst people in this country, but has never taken the time to ask us what hard-working Americans like ourselves need.
