Introducing Myself:

For those of you who I have not had the honor of representing before this Congress, I want to take a moment to introduce myself and my family.
For the past six years, I served as the U.S. Representative for the 15th District of Texas. To those I have had the honor to represent before, thank you for placing your trust in me. And for those I am just now meeting, I look forward to getting to know you and being your voice in Congress and continue fighting for South Texas.

I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. I am the son of a Korean War Veteran, who taught me about the value and strength it takes to be a part of our nation's Armed Services. My father’s service guides my approach to advocating for our service members, Veterans and their families in Congress every day.

I graduated from Del Mar College after earning my GED, where I received an associate degree in Banking and Finance in 1990. I then worked my way through college at Embry Riddle University and earned a bachelor's degree in Business Aviation in 1992. I went on to earn a Juris Doctorate degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, now Texas A&M School of Law, in 1996. While attending law school, I interned in the Office of Former Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz where I learned the value of public service.

In 1997, I made my way to the Rio Grande Valley and opened my law practice, V. Gonzalez & Associates, where I fought for working families wronged by powerful corporations and took on unscrupulous vendors, recovering millions in school bond revenues for taxpayers across our region.

Now, I reside in South Texas with my wonderful wife, Lorena, and pup, Oliver.

Listening to the constituents of Texas 34 is one of the most important aspects of my job, and one I take very seriously. I hope to hear from you soon, send me an email hereImage

Appointment to the Financial Services Committee:

I’m pleased to share that I will continue to build upon my work with the Financial Services Committee in the 118th Congress. I am proud to work to create a more equitable banking system, increase access to capital for small businesses, make homeownership accessible to more South Texans, and improve our flood mapping and insurance systems.

While I am proud of the work this committee has achieved for the American people, there is still much more to be done. I am excited to continue working on this committee to create better opportunities and a better economy for South Texans.

Introduced the Repatriate Our Patriots Act:

On Wednesday, February 1, I re-introduced H.R. 717, the Repatriate Our Patriots Act, a bipartisan bill to bring our deported Veterans back home and create a pathway to citizenship for those in active duty.

It is unconscionable that we have callously deported those who have put their lives on the line to protect our country. It is far past time that our nation rights this wrong and keeps its promise to our Veterans.

As the son of a Veteran, I have seen first-hand the sacrifices our service members and their families make to keep us safe.  I am proud to re-introduce this critical legislation and shed light on this important issue. I will keep fighting for our Veterans and bring them back home to their loved ones.

You may find more information about the bill here.
