As thousands of rescuers continue sifting through the debris from Turkey's earthquake, the death toll rises above 5,500.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey declared a three-month state of emergency. While more than 8,000 people have been rescued from underneath the wreckage, the death toll is expected to rise even more.
