As everyday prices have soared, Social Security benefits have failed to keep up with rising costs of living, leaving our already-vulnerable seniors struggling financially.
The good news is that Democrats have recently introduced a plan that would help protect senior citizens from poverty — by guaranteeing a $200 monthly increase in Social Security benefits.
But Washington Republicans are already pulling out all the stops to BLOCK the bill from passing.
In fact, House GOP Members have proposed their own spending plans that include SLASHING funding from programs like Medicare and Social Security, as well as increasing the age of eligibility — making it even hard for seniors to access these critical safety nets.
Last month, GOP leader Rep. Rick Allen tried to actually defend these attacks on Social Security by claiming that “people WANT to work longer.” Meanwhile, Allen has a net worth of $52,127,252.
This isn't right, John. We can’t allow Republicans to hold the debt ceiling hostage at the expense of our senior citizens.
If we're going to save Social Security and Medicare, we need Democratic moms in office because they understand the financial burden that families face without these essential benefits. And we can always count on them to fight for our seniors, our children, and our families.
