Dear Constituent,
We've now wrapped up week 2 of the 2020 legislative session! It's been a very busy week -- we've gotten a lot done and had some wonderful visitors to our office. Please feel free to come and visit us at E522 at the General Assembly Building!

The ERA Passes!
This Wednesday, I joined my colleagues in voting in favor of Senate Joint Resolution 1, ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment. On the same day, my House colleagues also voted to ratify the ERA. I was especially proud that we were able to achieve bipartisan support on this historic resolution.
I spoke on the Senate floor for the first time to support the ERA and to talk about my mom -- you can watch the video below.
Legislation Updates
Gun Safety Bills: On Friday, the Senate passed three gun safety bills that I was proud to support.
SB 69: prohibits anyone other than a licensed firearm dealer from purchasing more than one handgun per month
SB 70: instates universal background checks for gun sales and transfers
SB 35: allows localities to ban firearms at certain public places and events
These bills will now go on to the House of Delegates to be voted on.
My Legislation: So far, five of my bills have passed through Senate committee or subcommittee! Those bills include SB 345, which extends worker's compensation protections to our hard-working correctional officers.
