Friends and Residents of the 48th Congressional District,

As the 2023 Congress kicks off, I am honored to be appointed to serve on the House Judiciary Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Science, Space and Technology Committee. The Speaker has also asked that I serve on the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government to examine the abuses by government agencies against the American people.

I introduced legislation to prevent a Biden Administration contemplated ban on gas stoves and I authored legislation to prevent the San Diego planned mileage tax. My bill would stop the funding of both a tax on how far Americans can drive, as well as mileage tracking devices that would calculate that distance. It’s simple - No Track, No Tax.

I also introduced national security legislation that would forbid our adversaries from purchasing land near sensitives US agencies and strategic sites. The risks to national security are obvious, and we must move swiftly to guard against spying and surveillance.

Sincerely,

Member of Congress

Fox News: Government wants to tax drivers by the mile. This bill from Darrell Issa could stop it

Federal government has studied how to tax drivers by the mile for years

"The federal government and several state-level entities have spent years trying to impose a new tax on drivers that would charge them for each mile driven, but a new bill from Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., aims to shut down that aspiration for good.

Issa last week introduced the No Track No Tax Act, which bans the federal government from directing any funds toward the development of a system to track drivers and assess a tax for every mile driven."

Fox News: GOP bill blocks Biden admin from banning gas stoves: ‘Regulation run amok’

Rep. Darrell Issa said talk of a ban is a 'preposterous' federal overreach

"House Republicans introduced legislation on Thursday that would prohibit the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) from banning gas stoves, after the agency indicated an interest in aggressively regulating or even banning the common kitchen cooking appliance used in millions of homes.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and 43 House Republicans introduced the GAS Act, which is aimed at making sure the possibility of a ban is taken off the kitchen table."

Fox News: Biden admin's closed-door briefing on Chinese spying blasted by top Republican as 'unspecific, insufficient'

Biden administration 'humiliated this country on the world stage,' Republican lawmaker tells Fox News Digital

EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., blasted the Biden administration shortly after receiving a closed-door briefing Monday from senior officials regarding the Chinese spy flight crisis.

The classified briefing was "unspecific, insufficient and backward-looking," failing to adequately address the Chinese spy balloon that flew across the U.S. last week, according to Issa's office. During the briefing, which was held in a sensitive compartmented information facility, officials also didn't provide evidence of similar flights taking place during the Trump administration.

"What I took away from this briefing confirmed that this administration and not the previous one had plenty of advance warning of an escalating Chinese espionage program, failed to act, and has now humiliated this country on the world stage," Issa, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told Fox News Digital.
