My Guest for the State of the Union

Dear Neighbor,

I hope this email finds you and your family in good health.

I am excited to share that Jaqueline Sanches, a Mattapan resident, early educator, and mother of two, will join me as my honored guest to President Biden’s State of the Union Address this evening.

As an Early Head Start teacher at the Dimock Center, Jaqueline knows how important it is that all young children receive the education that Early Head Start programs provide. And as a working parent, Jaqueline knows how difficult it can be to access full-time care for her children—a struggle that is felt by parents across the Massachusetts 7th and the country. Jaqueline welcomed her son five months ago and was able to take some necessary paid leave—a right every parent should have as they expand their family.

That’s why I look forward to standing side by side with Jaqueline as we make plain that our educators are essential and their voices belong in every corridor where policy decisions are made. Together, we’re making the case for robust federal investments in childcare, living wages for early educators, support for the Head Start program, paid leave, and other policies that support working families like Jaqueline’s and folks across the 7th.
