Tonight, President Biden will give the State of the Union and there’s a critical priority I hope he includes: addressing our nation’s gun violence epidemic.

The truth is, John, the state of our nation is deadly because of gun violence that has continued to increase at alarming rates in the past few years. In fact, gun violence is now the number one cause of death for children in the United States and we are all at risk if we don’t take action as soon as possible. 

Last year, President Biden made history when he signed into law the most consequential package of gun violence prevention law in recent memory, but we’re only going to change this nation for good if we keep building on that momentum. It’s time for lifesaving action to ban assault weapons, expand and strengthen background checks, and stop the proliferation of ghost guns – and I need your help to get us there.
