The Texas power grid is at it again, team.
Nearly half a million Texas homes were left in the dark once again last week as temperatures dropped to extreme levels across the state.
Nearly two years to the date that millions of Texans lost power in the winter storms of 2021, extreme weather events continue to hit Texas—from severe droughts and record heat, to ice storms and temperatures that disrupt our power grid.
Climate change will continue to make weather more extreme in Texas—and the need to invest in renewables and take action on climate change has never been higher. That’s why Ground Game Texas is putting climate on the ballot—starting with a charter initiative in El Paso to boost investment in renewables like solar and reduce the city’s contribution to climate change.
This initiative will make El Paso a model for the state and the nation when it comes to green policy. It will help us invest in renewables, conserve resources, and create jobs in the green economy. Most importantly: it will show that every community has a role in tackling the climate crisis.
With your help, we can deliver climate action and begin to fight back against extreme weather like Texas is dealing with this week.
Thank you,
Ground Game Texas
