News from Rep. Chip Roy

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

As I begin another busy week in Washington, I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:

Fighting the border crisis

Last week, I addressed the solutions my bill, H.R. 29, would provide to this crisis while allowing for asylum claims to continue. My bill would end the disastrous catch-and-release policies that have overwhelmed our southern states and border communities and would require the DHS to turn away anyone except those seeking asylum in order to regain control of our own border while still allowing asylum seekers to make their claims.

My friends and former DHS officials, Tom Homan and Mark Morgan have a great op-ed at The Hill explaining my border security bill that dispels a lot of the intentional misinformation being spread about it.

Also, the House Committee on the Judiciary held hearings on Biden’s ever-worsening border crisis. My colleagues and I sought answers as to what could be done to regain control of our border.

Fighting the federal government’s unending, irresponsible spending
On Thursday, Representative Jim Jordan and I discussed the efforts undertaken by House Republicans to ensure fiscal responsibility is guaranteed before the debt ceiling is increased. We must reign in the irresponsible spending habits of the government.

I also discussed the matter in further depth with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business:

Passport Resources

The State Department has indicated that processing times on Passport Services’ will rise due to a seasonal increase in applications. You can expect processing times of 8-11 weeks for routine processing and 5-7 weeks for expedited processing. These processing times do not include mail delivery service estimates. Please remember to check your passport expiration date and keep in mind some countries require your passport to be valid for six months after your visit. You can find information on how to apply or renew your passport here.

If you have any concerns that my office can help out with, please don’t hesitate to call or email through the “email me” portal on my website. If you feel so inclined, you can also just send an old-fashioned letter to my Washington or district offices.

If your friends, relatives, or neighbors would also like to sign up for these weekly updates, they can do so by sending my office a quick email or simply by signing up here. For more up-to-the-minute updates, you can follow my press team on Facebook and Twitter.
