Dear John,
We wanted to follow up with you regarding the email we sent you last week about leftist activist judicial nominees, Nancy Abudu (Strategic Litigation Director for the SPLC) and Julie Rikelman (pro-abortion Dobbs lawyer). The committee vote on their nominations that was expected to take place last Thursday was postponed and is now expected to be held this Thursday, 2/9.
Would you send a message to your senators one more time, urging them to vote NO on Abudu and Rikelman's nominations?
As we've said before, the SPLC, where Nancy Abudu serves as the Strategic Litigation Director, is a corrupt organization known for targeting its political opponents with its "hate group" label and dangerous rhetoric. If this were not enough, her troubling answer to questions regarding her organization's use of judge shopping, and her support for the unconstitutional idea of "preclearance" show a lack of integrity and respect for the legislative and judicial systems.
Julie Rikelman previously worked for the Center for Reproductive Rights; an organization dedicated to establishing abortion as a "fundamental human right" across the nation. She has represented abortionists in court on several occasions, most recently in the Dobbs case. In this case, she argued against a Mississippi law protecting unborn life after 15 weeks gestation. She argued in favor of the radical abortion regime that Roe implemented, nationwide abortion through birth. Rikelman even went so far as to falsely claim that abortion has been a part of the American tradition from our country's founding, which (she said) was what had led the justices to reach their final decision in Roe.
Both of these nominees have clear records of leftist, judicial activism that indicate that they would not be capable of acting as impartial jurists.
Please reach out now to your senators and ask them to oppose Nancy Abudu and Julie Rikelman's nominations!
Sincerely,
Your Friends at FRC Action
