At last year’s State of the Union, Republicans in Congress refused to clap
or stand up for helping children, lowering prescription drug prices,
taxing billionaires instead of middle-class families, saving our planet
and our democracy, and even supporting the troops.

They did it so much we made a list of the Top 10 popular things
Republicans refused to stand up for in last year’s State of the Union
address. (Scroll down to see it.)

We expect them to do it again this year. But this time we’re going to use
it against them -- and you can help!

Starting at 9pm Eastern when Biden starts speaking, every time Republicans
refuse to stand and clap for a popular issue -- we’ll post it on Twitter
and Facebook or amplify someone else's post. We’ll name the issue they
snub and we’ll post the proof of them doing it. We'll use the hashtag
#StandUp to keep everything coordinated.

All you have to do is keep one eye on the PCCC's [ [link removed] ]Facebook or [ [link removed] ]Twitter
page during the State of the Union and retweet or share our posts with the
hashtag #StandUp.

If thousands of us do this together, we can flood Facebook and Twitter --
while millions of voters and thousands of reporters are paying attention.

during the SOTU with posts of Republicans refusing to stand up and clap
for super-popular issues.

Top 10 popular things Republicans refused to stand up for in last year’s
State of the Union address:

#10 Keeping taxes low for families: "And under my plan, nobody — let me
say this again — nobody earning less than $400,000 a year will pay an
additional penny in new taxes. Not a single penny." [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

#9 Affordable childcare: “If you live in a major city in America you can
pay up to $14,000 in childcare per child… My plan would cut the cost in
half for most families.” [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

#8 Lowering the cost of prescription drugs: "Let’s let Medicare negotiate
the price of prescription drugs." [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

#7 Historic job growth: "Our economy created over 6.5 million new jobs
just last year, more jobs in one year than ever before in the history of
the United States of America." [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

#6 Making corporations pay their fair share: “Last year, 55 of the Fortune
500 companies earned $40 billion in profit and paid zero in federal
taxes…It’s not fair.” [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

#5 Closing tax loopholes for the wealthy: "And that’s why I’ve proposed
closing loopholes for the very wealthy who don’t pay — who pay a lower tax
rate than a teacher and a firefighter... we will grow the economy, lower
the costs to families." [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

#4 Building our economy: "... invest in America; educate Americans; grow
the workforce; build the economy from the bottom up and the middle out,
not from the top down." [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

#3 Lowering family costs: "One way to fight inflation is to drive down
wages and make Americans poorer. I think I have a better idea to fight
inflation: Lower your costs, not your wages." [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

#2 Taking care of our troops: "And our troops in Iraq have faced — and
Afghanistan — have faced many dangers... And they come home — many of the
world’s fittest and best trained warriors in the world — never the same:
headaches, numbness, dizziness, a cancer that would put them in a
flag-draped coffin." [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

NOTE: Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert heckled Biden during this
statement.

#1 Defending democracy: "Tonight, I call on the Senate to pass — pass the
Freedom to Vote Act. Pass the John Lewis Act — Voting Rights Act. And
while you’re at it, pass the DISCLOSE Act so Americans know who is funding
our elections." [ [link removed] ]C-SPAN CLIP

Republicans in Congress should take a hit when they make a big show of
opposing super-popular issues that help everyday people. Together, let’s
make sure they do!
