The Council for a Livable World endorsed my campaign in this election cycle. Their endorsement was important to me, and I want to take this opportunity to tell you about their mission and current work.
The Council’s chief goal is to reduce and eventually eliminate the threat posed by nuclear weapons. In pursuit of that goal, the Council helps elect candidates who support their mission and then supports those members once in Congress. This includes pushing for diplomacy-first foreign policy, nuclear arms control and common-sense defense spending in order to create a more livable world.
They are calling for President Biden to continue negotiations for arms control agreements in the future. The war in Ukraine has once again made the threat caused by nuclear weapons all too clear. In this context, continuing negotiations with other nuclear-armed states is essential even when it seems difficult.
The Council raised almost $1 million for 38 endorsed candidates this cycle. They will support newly elected candidates in the 118th Congress to advance these policy goals.
Organizations that combine strategic election interventions with a thoughtful approach and important insight are key to making an impact in the Washington policy conversation.
