President Joe Biden has officially signed the PUGET SOS Act into law as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2023! As Co-Chair of the Puget Sound Recovery Caucus alongside Rep. Marilyn Strickland, I'm especially proud to play a role in making this victory for environmental protection possible.

The PUGET SOS Act will enhance the federal government's role in the protection and restoration of Puget Sound by increasing its involvement and investment in the heart and soul of Washington State. This includes establishing a Puget Sound Recovery National Program Office within the Environmental Protection Agency.

I want to be clear, team: This is a major step forward and a huge win for Puget Sound's recovery. As our state's economic engine and a large part of Washington's identity – this marks a years-in-the-making win for our home state. Will you take a moment to sign on in support of the Puget SOS Act to endorse these crucial investments?

This law will ensure that the federal government treats Puget Sound the same way other bodies of water of national significance are treated. It will also ensure that we can continue to count on this natural treasure for generations to come.

I want to ensure that future generations will be able to thrive and enjoy the same economic opportunities afforded to past generations. Laws like the PUGET SOS Act play a key role in doing just that!
