John,
Happy Black History Month Diem Team,
Since we spoke last many events have transpired in Congress. The three most notable were the fight for house speaker, the subsequent removal of Democrats from committees, and the Strategic Protections Act where Rep. Miller voted against protecting our Great Lakes.
What we saw during the battle for House Speaker was a GOP divided and Democrats united. Concessions were made that weakened the speakership, allowing the opportunity for this divided GOP to wreak havoc on the American people for political gain. Between the in-fighting of the GOP and the very slim margin of majority control in the house, I worry that basic obligations of the government will not be met and it will affect our position globally and possibly the day to day lives of Americans.
Let’s hope that our Congress decides to work for the American people, not personal/political gain.
As Ohio Governor Mike DeWine declared natural gas green energy, the Strategic Protections Act passed the house. This bill would allow oil and gas drilling in our Great Lakes. Imagine seeing oil rigs off the shore of Edgewater Park. Max Miller voted to make this a reality.
We also were witness to blatant political revenge. The McCarthy led GOP removed Democrats from committees. One of such removals was led by my former opponent.
I found a new twitter page that is dedicated to keeping an eye on Max Miller in congress. Link to the account is right here! I hope that whoever made this twitter keeps it up. It is a very useful and important resource. Follow it to show support to the creator, to keep up to date, and hold him accountable.
