And a reminder that we still have work to do.

Hi John,

This month, we celebrate our state’s rich African American culture and honor the contributions of Black North Carolinians.

We remember civil rights leaders, like the Greensboro Four, who helped launch the national sit-in movement, along with groundbreaking Black artists, educators, and health care professionals who have made monumental contributions to our nation.

We know that diversity is one of our greatest strengths in North Carolina, but as we celebrate this month, we know there’s more work to do to fight racism and ensure opportunities for everyone.

My administration has made it a priority to work to break down the barriers in our health care, education, economic, and criminal justice systems that communities of color continue to face.

Let’s keep working together toward solutions that make our state a more just and equitable place for everyone.

Thank you,

Roy

Roy Cooper, Governor of North Carolina
