Dear Friend,

Think of your favorite K-12 teacher. Then imagine they were forced to leave your school due to low wages and poor working conditions. This is happening to teachers in Oakland today.

Oakland teachers earn much lower wages than their colleagues in the rest of Alameda County. The school district needs to pay teachers fairly to keep up with the cost of living in the Bay Area. But billionaire privatizers would rather cut school budgets and erode public education so that the charter schools they own can turn a profit. Teachers are fighting this ruling-class attack, and East Bay DSA has their backs. Pitch in to make East Bay DSA’s teacher strike support possible >>

Oakland teachers are currently bargaining their contract with Oakland Unified School District. They're fighting to raise wages, ensure small class sizes, and provide support to disabled students and English learners. East Bay DSA members have been hard at work making flyers and partnering with teachers to support them in their bargaining. If the District fails to bargain in good faith, the teachers will go on strike in the spring. That's where you come in. Here's what your dollars can buy:

  • $15 buys art supplies to make signs
  • $28 buys a box of coffee for teachers at rallies, informational pickets, and on the line
  • $50 covers the tool we use to phone bank members for one month
  • $100 pays for a box of 200 fliers from a union print shop

Contribute today to show up for Oakland teachers as they bargain their contract! >>

As socialists, we understand that students need good public education to thrive. Together, we win!

Chip in now to help us pull off a massive strike support campaign >>

Thank you for everything that you do.

In solidarity,
