President Biden will tout his accomplishments and deliver his vision for the year ahead in tomorrow night’s speech.
But immigrant communities have been largely let down under the Biden administration.
- DACA is still in danger and has not been strengthened or expanded, leaving it vulnerable and likely to be ended by the Supreme Court within this administration.
- Protections for immigrants have failed to pass Congress within any major bill signed by President Biden.
- Detention has increased exponentially and the administration has continued to request more money for detention from Congress.
- Trump-era policies like Title 42 and MPP are still alive and expanded, and more than 4 million people have been deported since President Biden took office.
President Biden campaigned on turning the page on the Trump administration’s cruelty and ushering in protections for DACA recipients, TPS holders, farmworkers, immigrant youth, and more.
Our communities are still waiting on him and his administration to deliver on those promises — so we’re renewing our efforts to remind President Biden that these policies are deeply popular amongst the voters who helped elect him.
