Methane flairing

Hi John,

We have the tools and knowledge necessary to tackle one of our biggest climate threats — methane pollution. And one way is to hold our biggest polluters accountable.

That’s why we’re asking you and other EDF advocates and supporters, to raise your voice and demand the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to adopt the strongest rules possible requiring oil and gas producers to slash health-harming emissions and keep this potent greenhouse gas in check.

The draft EPA put forward is a big step forward, but we need them to adopt the strongest rules possible to require oil and gas producers cut emissions so we can protect the health of our climate and communities.

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas responsible for a quarter of the warming that we are experiencing today. It’s an alarming statistic, but there are ways to put a stop to methane creating a big opportunity for people like you to take climate action.

Oil and gas emissions also contribute to ground-level ozone and or smog which damages airways, aggravates lung diseases, trigger asthma attacks, lead to lower birthweight, and can lead to cardiovascular harm such as heart attacks and strokes. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

With stronger standards EPA can provide critical protections, including:

  • Slashing pollution from flaring;

  • Preventing methane leaks from storage tanks; and

  • Providing transparent data about large methane leaks known as super emitters in final standards

But they need to hear it from you. Submit a public comment to the EPA today and raise your voice for cleaner air and a healthier climate.

Let’s fight for a cleaner future,
