Thanks to the move, the Palmetto State has jumped ahead of both Iowa and New Hampshire, which have both historically cast their ballots for president before South Carolina. According to the DNC, the decision was made in part to prioritize black and Latino voters.

4. DeSantis Admin Revokes Liquor License of Orlando Venue That Hosted Sexual Drag Show for Children
Through the state’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation, DeSantis on Friday filed a 6-count complaint against the Orlando Philharmonic Foundation Inc., accusing the company of exposing minors to obscene sexual acts during a drag performance in December.

The complaint obtained by Florida Voice News alleged that the foundation advertised the show to all ages as holiday-themed without specifying its “sexually explicit nature.” The DeSantis administration warned the venue prior to the show that it would be expected to ensure children would be barred from entry, writing in a letter that “sexually explicit drag show performances constitute public nuisances, lewd activity, and disorderly conduct when minors are in attendance.” If the company refused to comply, the letter said, it could be subject to penalties up to and including license revocation.

Maine broke its own record for overdose deaths in 2022, according to a report released Thursday by the Maine Attorney General's Office.

The report said 716 people died from drug overdoses, 80 more than in 2021. Overall, 10,110 overdoses occurred in 2022. The report calculated the survival rate at 93 percent.

The State University of New York System (SUNY) has introduced a new Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DEISJ) requirement for all incoming students for the fall 2023 semester.

SUNY is comprised of 64 colleges and universities across the state of New York and accounts for over one-third of New York’s post-secondary student population.

The General Education (GE) guidelines were passed by the SUNY Board of Trustees in November 2021, and will now be required for associate and baccalaureate degree seekers enrolling in fall 2023.

General Sir Richard Barrons warned the British Army does not have enough ammo stocks to enter the war against Russia, in a worrying analysis of the UK Defence.

Writing in The Sun, the former Joint Forces chief said years of cuts to Defence spendings have left stocks almost bare. The General added that the British Army would need at least £3billion more a year to rejoin NATO's top tier nations on defence spending.

The warning comes as Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said on Thursday that defence spending could need to increase for decades as the UK faces an increasingly dangerous world.
