MEMORIAL MILE PHASE II?
MORE CREPE MYRTLES ARE COMING TO?
HIGHWAY 90 WEST
The City of Dayton and the Dayton Enhancement Committee joined forces to establish CREPE MYRTLES on Highway 90 West for several miles. This will be a beautiful introduction to our city.? Many thanks go to the Dayton City Council, Mayor Caroline Wadzeck, and TxDot Area Engineer? Noel Salac.??
The first project was in 2005-2007. The Quality of Life Committee placed Crepe Myrtles on Highway 90 East, in the river bottom to our city limits.? This project was named THE MEMORIAL MILE. The new project, THE MEMORIAL MILE PHASE II started taking orders for the Crepe Myrtles in May 2021. They are purple and white and will continue in a single line pattern down the middle of Highway 90 West.
This project will be completed in sections. The planting of the Crepe Myrtles will be done in increments of approximately 50 trees at a time, with a total of about 250 trees.? A donation of $100 per tree, with the reason the tree is being purchased (either ?in honor of? or ?in memory of?), is all that is required.?
When this project is complete, all of the donors will be acknowledged at the Dayton Community Center, next to the donors that contributed to the first phase.?
