Discussing a busy week in DC, the Chinese spy balloon, and protecting classified information 

I joined CNN this week to discuss legislation I am pursuing to strengthen the penalties for mishandling classified information. Any individual who handles classified material or documents is made aware of the safeguards, responsibility, and importance of protecting highly sensitive information, whether it’s high ranking government officials, Intelligence Committee members, or military officers. I believe it has become clear that there must be review, reform, and clearer penalties for individuals who mishandle classified information.

I also joined NewsNation this week to discuss the Chinese Spy Balloon and threats from the CCP. As member of the Intelligence Committee and the new Select Committee on China, it has become clear that we must address the generational challenges posed by the Chinese government. On the Select Committee on China, we will work to address the CCP’s destabilizing activity and strengthen America’s economic and national security.

Over the weekend, I joined the Midwest Truckers Association for their event in Peoria! Truckers are vital to our economy and local commerce in central Illinois communities. Proud to advocate for Illinois Truckers in Congress as a supporter of the DRIVE-Safe Act and apprenticeship programs. Thank you to Illinois truckers!
