We hope you'll take a few minutes to tell us why you're proud to be a part of this fight.
Hey John, Emilia here!
In a moment, I’m going to ask you to share why you support Summer and this movement for bold progress, but first, I want you to know a little more about me and why I came to work for Summer.
When I was a little kid, I spent a lot of time watching Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert with my dad. During the commercials, we’d switch to Fox News, and he’d usually rant about how Democrats would lose the message war if we didn’t get better at going on offense.
I spent the second half of my childhood in a ‘rustbelt’ town not unlike Western Pennsylvania, where I watched my community turn from union-blue to MAGA red after right-wing billionaires peddled hate-for-profit and convinced working folks that Democrats weren’t fighting for them. I was determined to help and make sure this wouldn’t happen again.
During the election, I had the privilege of seeing Summer’s fire up close — I got goosebumps seeing the energy in the crowd as she spoke at a rally in the pouring rain. But I also saw the endless flood of corporate PAC money she was up against and was chilled watching the vile, racist attack ads they spent millions on to try and tank her campaign.
Summer isn’t like any other politician — she’s a real, down-to-earth force to be reckoned with who broke the cement ceiling that Black, brown, and working class progressive women in politics face. So, I was proud to begin working for the first Black woman to represent PA.
Summer brings the people into power with her because she has the clearest vision on labor, environmental justice, and reproductive rights. Every personal story of the people we bring into our movement matters, John, because we need to understand where we came from to know where we’re heading.
That’s why I’m asking you today, will take a few minutes to tell our team why you're proud to be a part of this fight with Summer?
