John,
The Republican Study Committee is out with a plan that attacks critical programs for the poor and working families while protecting the bloated Pentagon budget and tax cuts for the wealthy.
They want to cut at least $146 billion from programs such as housing, child care, nutrition, education, and environmental clean-up under the guise of deficit reduction.1 But they refuse to touch the real drivers of our country’s debt: a massive military budget and tax cuts for the rich and corporations.
Check out Debbie’s email below, which provides more details on the Republican Study Committee plan to cut critical programs for working- and low-income families, then rush a donation today to fight back!

-- DEBORAH'S EMAIL --
John,
This week, the ultra-right-wing Republican Study Committee, which makes up the vast majority of the House Republican caucus, came out with their plan to slash government services, while protecting tax cuts for the wealthy. Their plan includes:
-
Large spending cuts to annual appropriations (AKA, programs such as housing, child care, nutrition, and education)
-
Tying increases in the debt limit to unspecified service cuts
-
Tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations (doubling down on the 2017 Trump-GOP tax cuts)
-
Expanding oil and gas drilling
-
Getting rid of regulatory protections: threatening health, consumers, workers, and the environment
-
Prioritizing paying down the debt (but keeping tax cuts for the wealthy and the bloated Pentagon budget -- major drivers of the debt)
They want to cut at least $146 billion from critical programs for working people, retirees, families, and the poor while maintaining Pentagon spending and tax cuts for their wealthy campaign contributors.1 And, they’re holding the debt ceiling hostage in order to extract these devastating cuts.
Rush a contribution today to fight back against right-wing extremists who are protecting Pentagon spending and tax cuts for the rich while demanding cuts to critical programs that uplift millions of vulnerable people and families.

While we’re making progress in defending Social Security and Medicare from right-wing cuts -- with 218 members of Congress, so far, taking the pledge to never cut Social Security or Medicare -- anti-poverty programs such as SNAP food stamps and Medicaid are very much in danger of severe cuts.
