In just 24 hours, the Federal Reserve will stop accepting public input on their draft principles to protect our economy from the climate crisis.
Once that deadline passes, the Fed will make a decision on their guidance for banking institutions – including our demand that they make these recommendations into requirements.
The climate crisis poses a grave threat to every aspect of our economy and our everyday lives, which is why our entire banking system needs to divest from the fossil fuel industry and reinvest resources into a clean, just, renewable economy.
The Fed has the power to make that happen – but only if they change their current draft principles from recommendations into requirements and meet the climate crisis with the urgent, meaningful action it demands.
