ACTION SPOTLIGHT
Tell Biden's EPA: Pursue Strong Truck and
Freight Vehicle Standards
Dirty diesel trucks, trains, ships, and
other freight equipment are fueling climate change and pose an
urgent public health crisis across the country — causing deadly
diseases such as asthma, heart problems, and cancer.
Last year, as a member of the Moving
Forward Network, we sent a letter ( [link removed] ) to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) demanding zero
emission solutions for freight operations. Unfortunately, little
progress has been made to address the deadly pollution caused by
trucks and freight.
While Biden's EPA issued standards last December limiting how
much air pollution new heavy-duty vehicles can emit, the
standards do NOT go far enough and fail to accelerate the
transition to zero-emission trucks. The EPA must pursue strong
truck and freight vehicle standards NOW to make progress toward
our climate goals and protect public health.
Please submit a message urging EPA to build upon that action and
significantly strengthen its truck standards and drive the whole
freight sector to zero emissions — before it's too late! ( [link removed]

CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Newly Proposed NOAA Fisheries Rule Must
Go Further to End Illegal Fishing and Forced Labor
An estimated 30 percent of the global
seafood harvest is the product of illegal, unreported, and
unregulated fishing practices. Not only does this illegal fishing
destroy our oceans and deplete fisheries, but it often relies on
forced labor and leads to rampant human rights abuses.
The United States is one of the world's largest consumers of
illegally fished seafood, and our government has a responsibility
to end labor abuse in the seafood industry. A newly proposed rule
from NOAA Fisheries could help address these issues with expanded
seafood traceability requirements, but it does not go nearly far
enough and fails to address labor abuses in seafood supply
chains.
NOAA Fisheries must adopt the strongest possible standards for
imported seafood to intercept the flow of illegal seafood into
the U.S. and help consumers feel confident the seafood they buy
is legally caught and not a product of labor abuses.

BIG WINS
* BIG WIN: EPA Protects Bristol Bay,
Alaska with Pebble Mine Veto: The Biden Administration recently
dealt a blow to the massive and controversial gold and copper
mining project in Bristol Bay, Alaska called the Pebble Mine. The
EPA has acted to not only prohibit the Pebble Mine but also
restrict future mining of the Pebble deposit in certain
headwaters of Bristol Bay. Read more > ( [link removed]

this past year like this one will continue this critical

conditioners, heat pumps, insulation, and aerosols. Read more > ( [link removed]

ACTION ROUNDUP
* Tell President Biden: No More Fossil
Fuel Industry Handouts! ( [link removed]
String Encrypted value]&gs=[Gift String Encrypted value] ) Under
pressure by Big Oil and their polluter allies, the Interior
Department could auction off more of our shared public lands and
oceans to the fossil fuel industry. President Biden must restrict
any further oil and gas lease sales and prioritize climate
protections above oil and gas leasing. Add your name > ( [link removed]

Rail: ( [link removed]
String Encrypted value]&gs=[Gift String Encrypted value] )
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is a dangerous, highly unstable, and
explosive substance composed primarily of methane, a potent
greenhouse gas. The gas industry is trying to take advantage of a
dangerous Trump-era rule to transport volatile LNG by rail,
putting communities along the route at risk. Take action > ( [link removed]

over 80 times the warming power of carbon, methane is a huge
threat to our climate and health. Tell EPA to adopt the strongest
standards to cut methane pollution from the fossil fuel industry

climate change and protect our health. Add your name > ( [link removed]
