John, I want to tell you about my friend Alexsis Rodgers.

Alexsis is a tried and true proven champion who has led the charge on passing the first ever domestic worker protections in Virginia. She’s fighting tooth and nail to expand access to reproductive care and abortion rights, and standing up against the GOP’s attacks on our communities.

Right now, Alexsis is running in a special election for Virginia State Senate – a seat we must keep BLUE to ensure Democratic, progressive policies are at the forefront in state legislatures.

John, I know how hard it is running as a woman of color candidate, often facing hateful attacks, being deemed “unfit” to run for elected office. These attacks have nothing to do with our actual merits as candidates – they’re designed to hold back people who will challenge the status quo and make our government reflect the people it serves.

Alexsis knows this firsthand, too, and refuses to let divisive barriers hold her back. She is a proven leader paving the way for women of color to make their voices heard, all while being a fierce legislative champion for Central Virginians. She just needs us with her – and fast.
