Federal Workers Must Show Up for the American People

All across America, people are going back to work and they're showing up at their jobs. I get calls every day from military veterans, from people that are waiting to get their IRS returns, people that are missing important honeymoons and other things because they can't even get a passport processed for months because federal workers that do those jobs are not showing up for work. That's not something you can do remotely.

This week, the House passed the SHOW UP Act of 2023 to require federal agencies to return to 2019 pre-pandemic telework levels within 30 days. There's no reason that someone who served our country – serving in the military, they showed up to protect our freedoms – shouldn’t get a response. It's long past due to get this done.

Unleash American Energy

Last week, House Republicans passed legislation that requires President Biden to develop a plan to increase domestic oil and gas production to replace President Biden’s raid on the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

The United States has a Strategic Petroleum Reserve for a reason. It’s there for emergencies. It's not there to mask the President's bad energy policies. It's there in times of need, and this President has raided more than 40 percent of that reserve. The bill we passed last week says if you're going to raid the reserve, show a plan on how you're going to replenish it by exploring for and developing more American energy.

There is absolutely no reason that we have to be reliant on foreign countries for our energy.

Welcome, Louisiana Students

I recently had the pleasure of welcoming students from Mt. Carmel Academy and Vandebilt Catholic High School to the U.S. Capitol. On the tour, I showed them how Members of Congress vote and shared a little bit of Louisiana’s history in Statuary Hall.
