Friend,

Today I went down to Cameron County to be trained as a Volunteer Deputy Registrar, or as we like to say, to get "deputized" to register voters.

It's something anyone can do if they want to register voters in Texas. But when I got to the office, they turned me away because no one there was authorized to deputize me to register voters.

I was disappointed but, sadly, not shocked. It's systemic problems like this that consistently stand in the way of getting new voters on the rolls.

And it made me realize, if we want to hit our goal of registering 50,000 Texans by the 2020 primary, we need to work even harder, hold county officials' feet to the fire if we have to, and build as big of an operation as we can across the state. But it's a big job -- and we can't do it without you.

Will you chip in today to help us get as many volunteers deputized and ready to register voters as we can?

If we do this right, Texas has a real shot at being a battleground state this cycle -- and that's thanks to people like you.

Game on,
Terry
